So Tor.com has an interview with Christopher Paolini in which they ask him, "If you were secretly going to write fanfic (or, even better, slashfic) about any two characters, who would they be?"

Because any fanfic he'd write would totally be a secret, right?

At least he didn't answer with Star Wars characters.

(I'm also amused any time a piece like this, which is supposed to be a series "featuring some of our favorite science fiction and fantasy authors, artists, and others," runs without an individual's byline.)

Hmm. I still remember how Jane Yolen commented at a Worldcon a few years ago about having received his original first manuscript (send by his dad) -- and how different it was from the published, cleaned up, far better written version...

Good editors might not be able to turn a turd into a masterpiece, but they clearly could at least polish it up real nice.

It was still pretty dreadful, and is far from the literary heights achieved by, say, Stephanie Meyer.

They both were wretched, but some children liked them. They tend to grow out of those books, though.
