Thanks, everyone, for the kind words about Max. He was a lovely, dignified cat, and we'll never forget him. Digging through Amazon deals has switched over the last couple of days from a Fun Scavenger Hunt to Something to Keep Me Distracted. Yesterday, it was in anticipation of the vet trip, and today, it's something to do. We'll be seeing Catching Fire and driving Elayna back to college later today.

(Deals from Black Friday and yesterday are active but in flux. Yesterday's deals on music, Paranormal Activity, other movies, the Chromecast/Roku deals, and more are still active, although a few have fluctuated by a few bucks (the Bond 50 is still at a nice price, for example). Plenty of the Black Friday deals are active, but now backordered -- LEGO Marvel's a prime example of this. Others, like Arkham Origins and The Last of Us, are still worth nabbing and in stock. And other deals -- including the Walking Dead Vita -- are still at damned nice prices. As for previous days, Thursday's post has great deals on Pacific Rim, Firefly, Django Unchained, video games, more movies, Ed McBain, and a 30%-off any book deal. Wednesday's post has active deals on Dark Souls, Band of Brothers, Joyce Carol Oates, and more; Monday's post has a ton of DVD deals, including LotR, Harry Potter, Homeland, Mission Impossible, Brady Bunch, Lucy, Buffy, Epic, and more, as well as kitchen gadgets, Rocksmith, Wired, and other deals.

As always, there are a ton of Lightning Deals today, including lots of DVDs (with an Anime focus today), video games, gadgets, and more. It's not worth stalking these (they run out fast), but if a deal's there when you check it out, you can find some great stuff.) Chuck and Fringe are good active deals right now, but if you're reading later, you can find things like Call the Midwife, Xbox games, Underdog, and more.)

The Deal of the Day is on Gourmet Cookware Sets, with 55-75% off sets by Cuisinart, Circulon, T-Fal, Anolon, and others!

The other DotD is on the ProForm Power 995c Treadmill for $749.99 (62% off), just in time for people to feel guilty over eating too much during Thanksgiving.

Les Miserables is going for $3.99 on DVD or Instant Video, and $9.96 on Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital. All are at least 60% off.

The Collections Deal of the Week offers 61-71% off complete runs (to date) of NCIS, NCIS: LA, CSI: Miami, and CSI: NY. No, original CSI (the best of the five crime shows with acronyms containing the letters "CSI" in them) is not a part of this sale.

The TV Deal of the Week offers 64-70% off sixteen different seasons of The Simpsons, including all of the good ones.

The Family Deal of the Week offers most of their Miyazaki movies for 50% off.

And the Blu-Ray Deal of the Week offers Battlestar Galactica for $89.99 (70% off) on Blu-Ray and for $74.99 (63% off) on DVD. And yes, I get that it's strange that the Blu-Ray DotW includes the DVD edition, too. Ask Amazon, not me.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is $3.99 (84% off) for the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital combo pack.

Cheap DVDs include The Princess Bride for $3.99 (73% off), Sinatra for $5.99 (70% off), and The Sandlot for $2.99 (70% off). Oh, and Duck Dynasty: Season 3 for $4.99 (75% off).

Cheap Blu-Rays include Braveheart for $5 (67% off), Fargo for $3.99 (80% off), and Raging Bull for $5.99 (70% off).

In video games, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is $9.99 (83% off) for the PS3.

If you've got a WiiU, Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition for $8.50 (82% off) is a hell of a price (although it's backordered, so see the "More Buying Choices" for the Amazon deal).

In toys, Connect 4 Cut The Rope is $11.99 (40% off).

Jenga is only $5 (71% off) as an add-on item (meaning it has to be a part of an order that's at least $25).

In Kindle Deals, The Mysterious Affair at Styles is $.99. And Tim Dorsey's When Elves Attack: A Joyous Christmas Greeting from the Criminal Nutbars of the Sunshine State is $1.99! If you haven't read Dorsey, you're missing a treat.

The Kindle DX is $169 (29% off). It's the least portable Kindle, but I find it the best reading experience in the bunch.

In magazines, joining the Wired deal from earlier this week are a one-year subscription to Fitness for $5, a one-year subscription to Eating Well for $5 (or two for $9.99, to save a penny more), and a five-month subscription to ESPN: The Magazine for $5.

In electronics, the Brother Printer Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer is $79.99 (60% off, and about $60 below other deals after shipping).

Finally, following the similar deals from yesterday, the Roku 2 is $49.91 (38% off).
