Face Off season 7

yendiSo we're down to the final five. After season 4 (in which the winner was obvious from maybe week 2) and season 5 (in which all of the vets were just so much stronger than the newbs), I was worried that they'd tapped out the potential contestant market (f/x isn't as common a skill as cooking). But last season was great, and this one's been pretty solid, too. Now that we're down to five, things are becoming more clear.
Thoughts behind a cut, since folks might be behind.
First, thank god Sasha went home this week. She had one great week when she won for her doll costume, but her outfit this week was a disaster from idea to implementation. It showed a lack of planning, general ignorance of the subject, and poor execution.
Of the five folks left, we have two obvious finalists:
Cig has been a top look for five weeks running (technically, there was no second top look this week because there was a clear winner, but he was clearly the other top look from the judging comments). He's imaginative, resourceful, and able to deal with problems. He'll make the final three.
And Dina is just amazing. She's won two of the last four contests, and seems to have no obvious weaknesses.
We have one person sure to be out: George is only still around because Sasha and Rachel turned in train wrecks over the last two weeks. Unless he completely turns things around, he's next to go. It's too bad, because he's one of the most entertaining folks on the series.
That leaves Stella and Drew fighting for the final spot. I like them both (this is rarely a show about personalities, with the exception of Frank from the first season and that one idiot who walked out on the first episode of season 2 or 3). Stella's been neither high nor low in ages. But she's also only been low once. She could be in a great position to move up, but she's got to bring something special next week. Drew is inconsistent as anything, but when he's good, he can be great. I'm worried that he might be complacent after he finally got a win, though. I don't see either as a top-two contestant, but if you remember last year, this is right when Rashaad moved out from the middle of the pack and won the season, so anything's possible.
That said, if I had to pick someone to win right now, I'd go with Dina. Both she and Cig have won challenges individually and on teams (both of which matter), but she seems to have sharper makeup skills, and I think that might make the difference (see Laura in season 5 for an example). I can't say I'd be unhappy with either of them winning, though (or even Stella or Drew).
