Deals from yesterday include the Alien movies, Shirley Temple, Rogers and Hammerstein, BBC Mysteries, The Wizard of Oz, assorted TV seasons (Grimm, Parenthood, 30 Rock, and lots more), game downloads (including Command and Conquer, Heroes of Might and Magic, Skyrim, and more), and Kindle books (Pynchon, Dick, Perrotta, more).

Traveling today, but a handful of things to note:

One of the Kindle Daily Deals is on The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare for $2.99. I haven't read this one, since I think one of the two co-authors is much more talented than the other, and imbalanced collaborations rarely work for me, but I know some folks like both of them.

Also cheap on Kindle for fans of recent genre works: The Martian for $3, Ready Player One for $2.50, The Name of the Wind for $2.25 (and The Wise Man's Fear for $2.50), The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms for $1.99, and The Ocean at the End of the Lane for $2.75. I thought the last one was incredibly overrated, but I'm clearly in the minority here.

Oh, and last year's everything-award winner Ancillary Justice (which I thought was wonderful) is $2.99, as is the previous year's Hugo winner, Among Others.

Beyond books, the PC/Mac full season of The Walking Dead: Season 2 is $6.24 (75% off).

And adding to the list of digital games from yesterday, there's a digital games Year End Sale, with Hitman,Tropico, Castlevania, Dragon Age, GTA, Elder Scrolls, Tomb Raider, and other series all represented.

And finally, in actual non-digital toys, the DC Direct Aquaman and Captain Boomerang figures are on sale for $6.21 (75% off) each.

I agree w/ you regarding Ocean at the End of the Lane.

Must not get Wise Man's Fear just because I have the first one in both print and ebook. I have WMF in print - THAT IS ENOUGH!

Similar thing with game books, especially when the new printing includes a new class/map/monster/spell/whathaveyou. Which of course makes archiving ludicrous.

I see today's .com deals include some BBC TV series. If you haven't seen In The Flesh, the first season is well-worth a look at under $8 - intelligent zombie / 'Partially Deceased Syndrome' drama.
