Conversation with Elayna this morning:

Elayna (pointing to a book): Adam, why is that author's name "Poopy?"

Adam: Sweetie, it's "Poppy." Poppy Z Brite. And it's that way because that's what her parents named her.

Elayna (pausing to look more closely at the book): Oh. So, what's a Plastic Jesus?

Gotta learn to keep certain books out of her sight.

Since I haven't read the book, I'm not exactly sure. But I figure the best case scenario (in which case it's one of those cheesy plastic Jesuses (Jesii?) that people put on their dashboard) involves me having to explain the concept of who Jesus was to a seven-year-old, while holding back my general agnostic scorn. The worst involves the Plastic Jesus being that vibrator with the Jesus head, and I don't want to have that discussion with her, ever (I'll defer to 'song for that one).
