Well, yesterday, Elayna finally saw ET! We'd been attempting to convince her to see it for ages, but her grandparents had planted a seen in her head that it would be scary, so it took us a while to convince her to see it. But she finally started begging us to take her, so yesterday, driving through pouring rain, we headed there. Needless to say, she loved it! And I was amazed at how much fun the movie still was, and how relevant it still is, right down to the faceless agents of a corrupt Republican government doing their best to those who choose to think differently. I've got a mild quibble with the one change Spielberg made (editing out the cops' guns during the climactic final chase scene), but in the scheme of things, it's not up there with Greedo shooting first or anything. Definitely as worthwhile a movie as it was twenty years ago. And yes, I still shed a few tears. :-)
