I just found out that Amazon.com accepts Borders gift cards. And I've had one burning a hole in my wallet for some time now. Now if only Barnes and Noble.com took Barnes and Noble gift cards.
I can't remember which chain owns which, but B&N owns either Walkenbooks or B. Dalton, and Borders owns whichever onw B&N doesn't own. And they take each other's gift cards within the same corporate family.
I knew about that situation. I was talking about the electronic situation -- I've got cards for the brick and mortar B&N and for Borders, and I thought I'd have to use them in the real stores (which I'd like to avoid). Turns out that I can use the Borders card online at amazon.com. But B&N.com, which is more closely tied to the "real" Barnes and Noble, won't let me use my gift card, so we have to make a trip to a store, alas.
No apology necessary -- that's part of what's so confusing -- barnesandnoble.com and Barnes and Noble sound like they should be the same store, but they're not, and it's damned annoying at times.
