Yes, they're making Fearless Vampire Killers (the hysterical but awful Polanksi flick) into a musical. With Michael "I'm so Overrated, you'll beg them to drain my blood" Crawford and Rene Auberjonois (who's a damned good stage actor, even if everyone thinks he's just Odo). I can't figure out if I'll need to see this, or avoid it like the plague.

GAH!!

oh man, i don't hold out much hope that it's gonna be any good... what made the movie so much fun was how awful and campy it was!! you can't force campy -- it almost always ends up looking forced.

Is this the one that Jim Steinman (of Bat out of Hell lyrics and music fame)? I had heard he was doing a broadway show with Michael Crawford about Vampires, but wasn't sure if I wanted to try to see it in previews or not.

Haven't seen the movie, but I have seen Rene A on stage. You're right, he is very good. I saw him in "City of Angels" back in early 1991. Tom Wopat--yes, THAT Tom Wopat--starred. He, too, was really good. I adore that musical for many reasons....The music (jazz, swingy stuff, Manhattan Transfer-style a cappella interludes), the story line (film noir mystery and the writing of film noir...with a good bit of humor), the staging (in black and white for the film part, color for the "writing of" part), the actors (also in it was the amazing Randy Graff. She could sing the phone book and make it sound fabulous).

Must dig out and listen to the CD.
