According to Box Office Prophets, Attack of the Clones is likely to pass Empire Strikes Back in total gross, leaving Empire as the lowest grossing SW movie. There's something seriously wrong with Empire being the lowest grossing of the five.

I didn't work there during Empire. I do during Clones. There is not a THING wrong with it making more money. ;)

Besides, popularity does not = quality. How much money did Titanic make? Spider-man is a fluke.

Well, of course it should make money for the purpose of Heather's Tiki fund!

But I still have this naïve dream that the best movies (judged by the objective "adam likes it" system) should make the most money.

Not sure. Probably actual, since most movies are measured that way (else that piece of garbage called Gone With the Wind would be on a lot more charts).

I understand about the tiki fund, but it's still a crime. Empire is, IMHO, the best of those films, and it should NOT be at the bottom of the $$ pile.

Empire was the first Star Wars film I ever saw. Hell, it was the first scifi film I ever saw, and it changed my entire perception of the genre. I still think it's the best of all the films. It's got the best Han/Leia dialogue, it's got Yoda the eccentric, and it's got a great romance, a truly great romance (forget that chick-flick crap....look at Empire. Now there's a great love story).

Yeah, it's always actual, not adjusted, because the studio marketing nitwits use it to promote current movies. It's meaningless.

Besides, is that based on the original releases of the first trilogy, or original plus rereleases?

In the case of BoP, it's actual based on total money earned (including re-releases). They do frequently show adjusted grosses when posting charts, but this was a comment in an essay, not a chart.
