The harder they come, the harder they fall.
I never say maybe and I go for it all
Just like the sound of electric guitars

Yeah, I love the music of the '80s. Wanna make something of it?

I'm watching VH1 Classic and I think it's gay video day. They've played "It's Raining Men", "Physical" by Olivia Newton John, and "Stand and Deliver" by Adam Ant.

they just played "On the Edge of a Broken Heart" too.

It's go-time... bring it on. I have a nostalgia killing cannon with your CD player's name on it.

I indulged my child-of-the-'80s-ness at Circuit City when we were there buying my parents a new VCR (my dad is Way Too Much Research Before Purchase Guy, so the experience was kind of traumatic and probably gave nightmares to the very cute, quite with-it, but jailbait boy who helped us). I bought two cheesy '80s-tunes compilation CDs. I covet my friends' huge set of '80s compilation CDs. Remember when "pop diva" meant Debbie Gibson? Well, one of her songs is on one of my compilations, and I sat there amazed at the depth of the composing ability it showed. There were harmonies and counterpoints and little orchestral bits I had totally missed when I heard her stuff back in middle school. I double dog dare Britney to do that (though I think Alicia Keyes could).

I am so hating the current awful pop derivatives of good '80s pop. At least I can enjoy the folkish rock that's out there, not to mention the singer-songwriters.

Mom and I listened to ABBA in the minivan on our vacation, which reminded me how horrible American disco was in comparison (and how not-disco ABBA was....a lot of it really isn't dated, even 20+ years later).

Amen, brother.

My only regret in the car was that I couldn't sing along. The evil Martian Death Cold had a grip on my voice, and I could barely talk, let alone attempt to sing (not that I'm particularly on-key normally).

I do miss having a stereo in my car. I'm back to driving Lolita, and so I am musicless. I only have the soundtrack in my head to keep me company.
