Elayna's homework last night was insane -- nineteen spelling words, written five times each, plus a bunch of math problems. She was not happy.

We didn't get her to bed until 9 (there were multiple crying fits), and even after doing math this morning, she still didn't finish. That's something she'll have to discuss with her teacher. I think it was too much work, but she also procrastinated a lot.

Got to sleep by 2. Am stll zonked.

Tonight is my writing night. I'm hoping to be able to stay awake long enough to write something. I haven't written a creative word in over a month.

Anyway, off to work..

We had a similar problem with Jareth last year at the start of the school year. I really think the teachers heap on too much homework too fast for the younger kids. They've just come off three months of fun, playing from dinner to bedtime, etc. They do need to buckle down and focus on school, but you'd think it would be recognized that they're not yet 10, and MAYBE easing them back into homework would make life easier on everyone.

But then what do we know, we're just the parents, not the teachers, right? ::muttergrumble::
