Crap. Woke up, felt like crap. Mildly nauseous, sore throat. Showered anyway (I'm gonna have to get Elayna ready for school, no mater what, and sometimes I feel less sick after being awake for a bit). Then read LJ, and saw that [livejournal.com profile] shadesong woke up sick in the middle of the night. Crap. So we've both got something. I think she's got it worse than I do, even, so I won't get any pity nursemaiding out of this. :-(

On the plus side, Neil Gaiman won the Hugo for American Gods. I'd rather have Connie Willis get the award, though, and feel less crappy. Although I strongly suspect the two aren't really connected.

I'm feeling similarly. Sometimes lack of sleep does this to me, so I'm hoping I don't have the Dragon*Con bug. But evidence seems to be mounting...

Get better, buddy.

Wow, the choice between "American Gods" and "Passage" (I presume, since that's been her only novel in the past few years – I don't pay much attention to the Hugos) is a really hard one. I loved both books, and they're both favorite writers of mine. Rrgh. I can't feel bad about Gaiman winning, but I do think "Passage" was the more ambitious book.

I get so frustrated with the whole he's-never-won-so-he's-due paradigm, though, in any awards field. "Sandman" was great, but giving "American Gods" a Hugo to let Neil know we all liked "Sandman" is just unfair to the other people who wrote good books recently.

But hey, all awards-by-popular-vote have the same problem, so I'm not going to get my panties in a twist about it.
