A few more DragonCon notes

Crap. Knew I'd leave some folks out. Forgot two_star (someone I'd known for years online, but never met until now), and ariadnesthread, whom I've known for years (although I don't think I saw Missy Lee since Friday). Both are nifty nifty folks.

And one observation about the dealer's room. This is the first year I saw the bootleg sellers selling stuff on DVD (thanks to cheaper recordable drives). Although, at something like $25 per disc, I don't see anyone willing to bother. Given the crappy source material and lack of DVD features, it's not worth the money (not even taking ethics into account here).

it is? If so, it's about as good a boot as I've ever seen. Nausicaa.net's been down all day, so it's not like I've been able to get any info on it. I'd never seen a boot before with such well-designed packaging, though. If it's a boot, it's a higer-class operation than the typical boot dealers. It was only being sold at the booths with legit stuff and imports, not at any of the cheap boot dealers.

Yeah, it's 100% unlicensed. The odds of ever seeing a real boxed set seem slim for the next few decades, though, so I'm not scoldin' you, just passing it along.

I got several Ghibli music CDs in Taiwan that I can't even tell if they're legit or not. -_-; And the Lodoss DVDs that I thought really were licensed turn out not to be, with the worst damned subtitles I've ever seen. Practically unintelligible. Oh well.

Those bastards with the discs were trying to sell the unaired SV pilot for $25! WTF? I can DL it for free and burn it myself. Lazy people.
