I wondered if he wasn't sick when he did Life'll Kill Ya back in 2000 -- from the title track to "Don't Let Us Get Sick" to "My Shit's Fucked Up," mortality hung heavy over that album. I didn't even know he'd done one this year (My Ride's Here) -- Amazon didn't mail me about it, which they'd done with other artists by other people before.

His remark, about being fine with it but hoping he made it to the next James Bond movie, seems very in keeping with his public persona. But damn, what a loss this is... and I'm more pissed off than ever that I didn't get to see him back on the Mr. Bad Example tour (I had the tickets in hand, then noticed it was a 21-and-up show -- I was 19 or 20 at the time, and had no way of getting a fake ID).
