When
stronae was here a few months ago, he and
mousegrrl spent much time talking up Bridge. It's a card game that I've always wanted to learn, and I was griping at the time that there was no OSX version of Bridge. Well, Freeverse, one of my favorite game companies, has announced that next week is
Card Game Week , and the game they're releasing on Friday is, indeed, Bridge! Woohoo!
Of course, since I now possess Warcraft III, who knows when I'll touch any other games? :-)
Nothing majorly new on the diet front. For the most part, no major hunger pangs, though. I did break diet somewhat last night -- had two more slices of thin crust pizza than I should have. But I think it was covered by my floater points for the week.
Earlier today, I cleaned the gerbil cage, as best I could, at least. When there were two gerbils, we could get them out of the cage and into the GerbilBall so we could really clean it. With thirteen or so, it's a lot tougher. I had to try to clean it with them in it (and it's not helped by the fact that we hadn't cleaned the cage in ages). So there's a lot less gerbil muck, but it's not sparkling clean. On the other hand, they can't complain, as they're still living here rent-free.
Thursday night, we had the Parent
torture Appreciation night at Karate, where we all got major workouts. I'm not as sore as I was after the last one, though, which bodes well, at least. Had a good writing night that night, where the first page of a story appeared out of the blue (and I've written all I can of that one until I figure out the plot).
Friday was a long day at work. Followed by Firefly night. We had fewer folks this time -- just
elorie, her husband Droid, and their son Raven, who played with Elayna the whole time (they're the Drama Prince and Drama Princess, so they get along wonderfully).
dslartoo made it about halfway through, which was great, since it's been ages since we'd seen him. After Firefly, we watched Moulin Rouge, which is still a damned fun movie. Then the guests left and sleep occured.
Today, we did Karate (where I got to stand on the sidelines, where I belong, dammit!), and lunch while Shari had some more writing time, followed by a slow early afternoon, and then
elorie and Raven came over, followed, after a while, by Elorie's friend Mary (is she an LJ person?), and her lovely toddler Savannah, and the kids had fun making tons of noise and making Elayna's room messier than ever.
mightywombat showed up soon thereafter, and we then ordered dinner from Johnny's and watched Shrek. After the movie was over, Elayna threw a minor tantrum over Raven having to leave and her having to go to bed (since we let her stay up hella late the night before). We explained to her that getting upset and acting up is not likely.
shadesong and
mightwombat left to go to the Party at
house_masonmill, so I got the pleasure of attempting to get Elayna settled down (it didn't help that this was all before I saw her room, more specifically, the Barbie house that was wedged behind the door, making entrance near-impossible). I managed to get her to bed by about 9:15, which isn't too bad, all things considered. And she's been informed that cleaning her room tomorrow morning happens before any tv, computer, or playing.
So, now it's supposed to be a writing night, but I don't think I have it in me. And I've already caught up on most of my Tivo viewing (including Andromeda and The Sopranos), other than shows I'd wait for
shadesong before watching. Shrug. Maybe I'll actually read a few pages, something I haven't managed in ages. Or maybe I'll try some writing, just to see if anything emerges.
And I've got some Thoughts on where Buffy's going this season. They go very against the grain. I'll post them later in a cut-tagged post.
