Most of you know that although I'm a solid skeptic, I don't discount "feelings" or "gut instincts." It's not that I ascribe any value to empathy or to any similar traits, but I believe that those feelings can often be our subconscious pointing out stuff we've missed. And the point of this post isn't to debate this stuff anyway. Call it a subconscious realization, call it precog, it's all the same.

The point is, I've had a really bad feeling for the last week or so. Like something majorly bad is going to happen, or, more likely, has happened, and the repurcusions are simply too hard to see at this point. All I know is, it's coincided when I started feeling ill and down, which is usually a sure sign. Since [livejournal.com profile] shadesong hasn't noticed anything, and has been blissfully happy, I'm guessing it's a work thing, most likely. So I'm not overly psyched for work this week, although since it's Educause week, it's likely to be light. Or so I hope.

Anyway, that's all. Just a vague concern. But I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it's something sincere, even if I never discover what it is.

I've learned to always trust this sort of feeling... so watch your back.

conscious vs. subconscious

my subconscious mind is smarter than my conscious one.

I see it as my subconscious doesn't have all these inhibitors that obviously know better.

'Scuse me.

Please explain to me what the difference is between "psychic ability" and "my subconscious is picking up on it"? Especially when the end result is still "I know something I couldn't consciously know otherwise"? Hmmm? ;D

I only say this because in my workshop on developing psychic abilities....I tell people it's mostly their subconscious processing information they're not consciously aware of. Mostly. And, of course, how to expand that ability and use it more effectively....

Well, a lot of psychic ability is really just synthesizing information subconsciously, but there are things that are reather difficult to explain that way. Visions of loved ones at the moment of their death, even if they're hundreds of miles away and you haven't seen them in years; knowing who's on the phone before you answer it; some forms of precognition.... *shrug* I'm not claiming to be able to explain psychic powers, but it's not all attributable to things you knew but didn't notice.

Here's hoping it's just a work-related stress thing and will pass in time... *crosses fingers*

Yeah, I'd agree with you there...

Good luck with whatever the problem ends up being.

Yeah, I'm with the gallery on this one. Trust your instincts; you know them to be true.

This of course doesn't mean that you get to churn out a self-fulfilling prophecy, of course, but then again, you're better than *that*. :)
