States of the union

yendiHad lots of work to do today post-vacation, so I decided to do a meme while I was working.
Alabama: Been a few times -- we had debate and Academic Team tourneys in Auburn and Birmingham regularly when I was in college. Enjoyed it more than I expected.
Alaska: Never been, but I do want to go someday. Too many episodes of Northern Exposure make it a must-see. :-)
Arizona: Mom lives there now, and I've visted her three times in Scottsdale. I also went there on a vacation once during college. Nice place -- hot as hell, but I like the desert (it helps that I'm a morning personl, and the desert is beautiful that early).
Arkansas: Never been. One of the few states I don't feel a compelling need to visit. Anyone know of anything compelling there?
California Been there a lot of times. Multiple trips to San Diego, San Francisco, Palo Alto, and single trips to Monerey and Carmel. If money were no object, San Fran and San Diego are both very compelling as places to live.
Colorado: Never been, but I wanna go there for a visit, at least. I don't ski, which makes it unlikely I'll ever get there, however.
Connecticut: Been there a number of times as a kid. It's a pretty state.
Delaware: Never been. Am interested in going, but it's pretty low on the list.
Florida: Been there dozens, if not hundreds, of times.
Georgia: I live here. I even like aspects of it. If Atlanta were a real city, I'd like it a whole lot more.
Hawaii: Never been, but I wanna go. Bad. Because all those Elvis movies took place here.
Idaho Never been, can't think of any reason to go.
Illinois: Never been, but I'll be hitting Chicago in a few weeks (and it's long been on my list of cities I must visit).
Indiana: Never been, but I'd like to visit someday.
Iowa: I visited a couple of times in college. It was everything I expected. And less. *Yawn*
Kansas: Never visited. Not sure if I ever will, to be honest.
Kentucky: Never been, but I'd like to visit Louisville someday.
Louisiana: Never been, which amazes me. I'm not compelled to visit (I'm not a party person, so Mardi Gras doesn't compel me, and Anne Rice's books make me retch), but I wouldn't mind stopping there someday.
Maine: Been there lots of times, for vacations, camping, rafting, etc. The only rural area that's ever really gotten to me.
Maryland: I've been there a few times, usually on the outskirts of DC, but a few times visiting folks at UMD or Hopkins
Massachusetts: Boston! Yet another of my all-time favorite places.
Michigan: Been there once, sorta. A stopover at the Detroit airport. I'm sure there are better first impressions.
Minnesota: Never been, but I really wanna go. Want to see Boiled in Lead in concert, dammit!
Mississippi: Never been, not sure if I'll ever go.
Missouri: Like MS, but without the appeal. Doubt I'll ever make it there willingly.
Montana: Umm, is there anything worthwhile in Montana? Anything at all?
Nebraska: Never been, although a college roommate was from there.
Nevada: I'd like to go to Las Vegas someday.
New Hampshire: I've driven through, but never stopped there.
New Jersey: Been there quite a few times. It lives up to the hype.
New Mexico: Never been, but I'd like to visit. Albuquerque is a nifty Weird Al song.
New York: Born and bred there. Love it, both the city and the state.
North Carolina: Been there quite a few times. I love the Triangle area, espcially Chapel Hill.
North Dakota: Never been. Not sure it really exists.
Ohio: Never been. I definitely want to visit someday.
Oklahoma: My mom was born there, and I visited a few times to see Grandma when she still lived there. The state is very flat.
Oregon: Never been, need to go, if only for the pilgrimage to Powell's.
Pennsylvania: Been to Philly a few times
Rhode Island: Never been, not sure if I want to visit.
South Carolina: I've been there a handful of times. I could do without every going there again, except as a pitstop on the way to NC.
South Dakota: One visit, just for Mount Rushmore, so I can feel like Cary Grant in North by Northwest.
Tennessee I've been a few times, but I really never got much of a chance to see the state.
Texas: Never been, am interested in hitting Austin at some point, maybe.
Utah: Never been. Haven't got much reason to ever want to.
Vermont: I've visited a few times, but it's nothing special.
Virginia: It's a pretty state, I guess, but it doesn't do much for me.
Washington: Never been out there, but I've been told I'd like it.
West Virginia: Um. You're kidding, right? The two people I've known from there have been happier than anything to get out. Is there any reason to ever visit?
Wisconsin: I went there for a trade show when I still worked at the computer store, and it was pretty. I'd like to visit again.
Wyoming: Never been, not sure if I want to visit.
And, of course:
Washington, DC I've visited any number of times, and would love to visit again. One of my favorite cities -- museums, restaurants, and water. All things a city should have.
