One last note:

Damned fine ending to the World Series.

It's not up there with '86 or '91 (my two favorite series, of those I've been alive to witness, of couse), but it's close. It's definitely up there with '85.

and the smeggin' Giants blow it again.

mind you, i had only two reasons to support the Giants:
1. Shawon Dunston, a former Cub and one of my favourite players;
2. i don't live in San Francisco any more, so that makes it okay.

Yeah, that sure was a great series. And just when I had mostly given up on baseball out of boredom.

I'll agree with you on 1985--Kansas City was my hometown back then. The other series that stands out for me was the Reds and Red Sox in 1975.
