Well, I'm feeling a bit better today, but not well enough to chance going to work. Same symptoms, just all in lesser degrees.

Last night, [livejournal.com profile] vidicon and [livejournal.com profile] bheansidhe were nice enough to pick up some won ton soup (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bethynyc) on their way over, which served as my only meal yesterday. It definitely seemed to help. I had the rest for breakfast this morning. I'll probably stick with the soup concept for lunch as well.

I still won't be online much today, as it's still much more comfy to lie down.

This morning wasn't helped by my having to play Bad Cop with Elayna. She dawdled in the bathroom this morning -- something we've talked to her about time and again -- to the point of spending forty minutes there reading. This meant that we were late getting out the door again. Fortunately (being the ocd-ish person I am when it comes to time), we always leave early enough to give us some wiggle room. But it was still frustrating, and I had to chew her out, as she ignored our repeated warnings.

We've decided that since the punishment (no tv) for dawdling doesn't seem to be working, that she's no longer allowed to have books or her gameboy in the bathroom. Which is a tough punishment to administer, as I've always believed that books in the bathroom are a quasi-religious freedom. But sometimes, drastic measures are needed.

Anyway, various pains in various parts of my body are telling me to lie down again. I promise that my next post won't be about my health. Really.

Take note - Wick Fowler's 3-Alarm Chili cures virtually anything, provided you make it 3-alarm or course. Wonderful restorative - a natural wonder-drug. That lovely 'burn' just melts its way through and kills or drives out aything in its way. I swear by it.

Hoping you feel better soon ...

I'm partial to hot-and-sour soup myselff as a restorative, but I get sinus stuff more than stomach.

It is completely reasonable to disallow books etc. in the bathroom under the circs. It is not punative; you are helping her to be on time by removing obvious distractions. If she cuts down on the dawdling in general, you might allow them again on a probationary basis, but only as long as she can manage them responsibly. Logical consequences of her own choices.... and good luck!

Back in my home town there was a Thai restaurant that made The.Best.Tom.Yum. Hot and sour shrimp-and-lemongrass soup. Extra pepper oil on top. Blast a cold RIGHT outta there. Clear sinuses like snorting wasabi.

Sadly, yendi has tummy flu. Not the same thing.

Glad you got the won ton soup. I've found that it cured most ills. Chris had some during his toothache, and it was soft enough for him to eat plus the magical qualities of chicken brother are added in.

Hope that you are feeling better and STAY better!

I was a bathroom reading dawdler as a child, and my parents removed the reading and set a timer. Anything over 10 minutes meant that I was sick and they would come in the bathroom to help me. The thought of that got me hopping.

Now, as an adult, I can dawdle all I want in the bathroom. But I generally only do so when I'm not getting ready for work in the morning!

Hey, sick boy!

Do you need me to bring you more soup today? Or maybe ginger ale & popsicles? :)
(Hell, no! Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] vidicon was looking over my shoulder and suggested "Ginger beer!" Jamaican. Very different stuff. Very peppery.)
Anyhoo, do you have my cell number? I'll email it if you don't. Just call and I can run stuff over. I'll be out and about today - until the ice storms hit, that is.

The ginger beer is a good idea, if you don't mind the picante. Ginger is a powerful antinausea treatment (also good for motion sickness).
