Happiness is a Deluxe Transitive Vampire
Dec. 26th, 2002 05:01 pmSo, we hit Deland today for some shopping. This included two bookstores. The first had nothing of interest. Or so I thought. But while
shadesong was checking out with some purchases for Elayna, I wandered outside to see the $.50 cart. And there, staring at me, is a hardcover copy of a Karen Elizabeth Gordon book that I'd never seen before -- Intimate Apparel: A Dictionary of the Senses! Woohoo! A find, even at a higher price!
Then we hit the good used bookstore. Four rooms worth of books. Their used SF/Fantasy section is larger than almost any other store's new genre section. I forced myself to skim, if only because otherwise, I'd still be there.
But I still found five Neal Barrett, JR books. All sci-fi, all long out of print and books I thought I'd never see (well, other than the Judge Dredd adaptation, which I only bought for the sake of completeness). We also bought other nifty books. Including The Pushcart War, which Elayna must read (and which I must read again, of course).
Anyway, we'll soon be heading to dinner with
shadesong's birth family and her adoptive family at the Macaroni Grill. I'll just be along for the food. :-)
