Happiness is a Deluxe Transitive Vampire

shadesong was checking out with some purchases for Elayna, I wandered outside to see the $.50 cart. And there, staring at me, is a hardcover copy of a Karen Elizabeth Gordon book that I'd never seen before -- Intimate Apparel: A Dictionary of the Senses! Woohoo! A find, even at a higher price!
Then we hit the good used bookstore. Four rooms worth of books. Their used SF/Fantasy section is larger than almost any other store's new genre section. I forced myself to skim, if only because otherwise, I'd still be there.
But I still found five Neal Barrett, JR books. All sci-fi, all long out of print and books I thought I'd never see (well, other than the Judge Dredd adaptation, which I only bought for the sake of completeness). We also bought other nifty books. Including The Pushcart War, which Elayna must read (and which I must read again, of course).
Anyway, we'll soon be heading to dinner withshadesong's birth family and her adoptive family at the Macaroni Grill. I'll just be along for the food. :-)

Date: 2002-12-26 06:42 pm (UTC)And do you have the Deluxe Transitive Vampire (the updated one from 1993)? It's well worth upgrading to it if you can (and I've got others of hers, if you want to borrow any, of course).
And Mac Grill was great. They now have a design-your-own-pasta option that's nifty. I had a spaghettini with artichokes, shrooms, spinach, shrimp, and Italian bacon in a garlic olive oil that was perfect. Damned nice.
