Back to School
Jan. 13th, 2003 03:25 pmThere are some days that are fine to approach on two hours of sleep. Days that are so slow that I could sneak off into the stacks and nap for half an hour. Days that are so busy with meetings that I don't have time to breathe, let alone feel tired.
Today is not one of those days.
The last few days before the semester begins are the busiest I have, period. But not with meetings. With dozens (over sixty today) class requests, plus the associated number of offshoot calls (explaining how to do various things, etc.). It's all sitting down at my desk, for the most part, so the exhaustion sinks in, but I can't take much of a break, because then the work just keeps piling up (and tomorrow will be even worse).
Basically, this is a hell week. Mind you, meetings are worse in many ways, but seeing the work keep piling up (while writing this message, I've gotten three more email requests, and taken care of two of them) is just daunting.
Oh, and I didn't mention the 50k line batch file I had to put together this morning.
Not to mention the incredible LOUD people around me.
I need an office Boomstick for these people.
On the plus side, umm, well, no safes have fallen on my head. This is a good thing.
No, don't expect too many Deep Thoughts from me this week. Certainly not today.
