(that song, by the way, was also written by Frank Loesser, whose works I've already raved about over here)

It's 8 degrees, or maybe 6, depending on which weather site I hit. And they all agree that with the wind chill, it's below zero. Elayna's school is closed. It wasn't closed yesterday, even though Fulton (the neighboring county, less then two miles away) was closed. Today, Fulton's open, but Dekalb is closed.

When I told Elayna that there was no school today, she stared at me in disbelief. "Of course there's school. It's Friday." When I told her how cold it was, though, she accepted it.

Oh, one Elayna note that I don't think I've mentioned: When I read her bedtime stories to her (and we only read books at or above her reading level), she insists on reading the dialogue. This makes the reading take longer, but it's also nice, as she's clearly shifting and growing to the point where she'll be reading advanced books to herself at night (she already does at the dinner table). We're currently on Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great (she's already read all four Fudge books).

I think our next book might be another of my favorites, if I can talk her into it: The Pushcart War. Of course, since she grew up in FLA and Atlanta, I'll have to explain what a pushcart is. :-)

We're all staying home, even though Emory's open. I'm getting some work done, but don't expect to be doing any work after 9 or so. Got to create eighteen course conferences for the PE101 folks. Other than that, nothing has to get done today, since I can't run the drop/add scripts until tomorrow. And my wrist hurts from repetitive motion (I really need keyboard and mouse wrist rests at home). Although that might have as much to do with playing Wingnuts last night, as well as hitting the puzzles at http://www.fools-errand.com/03-in-three/jumble-jitters/06/puzzle.htm (flash and a very twisted puzzle-solving mind required for the latter link).

Anyway, back to course creation.
