Well, for anyone with lingering doubts, the casting of Gina Torres on Angel (no link, as all stories I've seen have contained spoilers) pretty much confirms the death of Firefly. Nice to see Joss taking care of his own, although Gina struck me as the one with the least need for any help (she's already pretty much a genre staple).

I thought she just joined the cast of The Agency not long ago (I posted a link to that story from tvpicks sometime in the last week or two).

'Course maybe it's just a bit part on Angel? Or maybe she told The Agency nevermind when she got a better offer elsewhere? Huh.

Ahh, just a guest stint on Angel. She's reportedly becoming a regular on The Agency. Glad to see her get work, I like her heaps.

I didn't think there was any question that Firefly is dead dead dead.

I got the impression that the Agency role is a recurring (but not regular) role, but since I don't watch the show, I pretty much ignored all the news reports (denial -- I still wanted a miracle cure for Firefly).

I had read somewhere recently that Nathon Fillion (Mal) had signed a new contract too, and that the Firefly sets had finally been destroyed (not stored). Sigh. Fox took the sky from me.

Oh well, maybe Gina can bring hubby Lawrence 'Morpheus' Fishburne into the Whedonverse. His degrees of separation are getting smaller (lets see, he was Cowboy Curtis in Pee Wee's Playhouse with Paul Rubens, who played a vampire in the original Buffy movie, and now he's married to Gina Torres who will be in Angel...)

*sigh* Now I have to wait for ANOTHER series to start with my little angel in it.. or watch old Space Cases episodes..

Damn that sucks.. they better release it on DVD..

And he's certainly got his share of genre ties, as well. However, I don't think Gina's going to be on Angel for very long, though.
