blueingenue asked if we'd be okay with Elayna dying Easter eggs. Since
shadesong and I are firm believers in celebrating the fun aspects of any holidays, of course we had no problem. We weren't able to get it off the ground in time last night, so we rescheduled it for tonight (although
shadesong had to miss out, due to being at Fantasm).
So tonight, Elayna got to dye Easter Eggs.
blueingenue brought the kit over, and we set up massive amounts of vinegar and dye. We then worked our way through the first dozen eggs, at which point
hotcoffeems, her adorable Pumpkin (wearing a shirt that had fit Elayna just a year ago!), and surprise guest
ocean_song (who brought cobbler!) came by, and a second dozen were dyed. At which point we boiled more eggs, and dyed them, too.
About six eggs in, the kids lost all interest, although they claim they had lots of fun.
The adults, on the other hand, had a blast. We found that by forgetting about the eggs, we could bring out really deep colors. We found that during the process, we could also have a blast talking, and had fun just chatting the night away. We found that kids are damned well capable of staying up way past their bedtimes (oops). :-)
Overall, we just had a helluva fun evening. Good fun, good people, good conversation.
And now, I find that I, too, am up past my bedtime. This should have been a much longer post. But I'm too wiped to write anything more complex. G'night, all.

Date: 2003-04-20 05:15 am (UTC)But yeah, it does seem more fun as an adult. Perhaps because I don't have to split the number of eggs with my sisters anymore. I always thought, as the oldest, I should get more eggs. Unfortunately, I was the only one who thought so.
They have bright blue peeps now. Breakfast of champions! And Macys (the main NY store on 34th St.) has a giant inflatable Peep over one of its doors. My friends were frightened that I recognized it as a Peep even before I saw the sign.
