Wouldn't it be great if the next DC/Marvel crossover was X-Men/Aquaman?
They could call it God Loves, Black Manta Kills
In other comics news, there's a Crossgen RPG (and CCG) coming out. That's pretty much its own punchline (I mean, how in the world could I ever lend more depth to a character than Ron Marz or Chuck Dixon do?).
And speaking of potential jokes, John Byrne is writing a JLA arc. If it's written by the same guy who wrote Fantastic Four and She-Hulk, I'm there. If it's the evil(er) John Byrne (who wears a goatee over his beard) who wrote Wonder Woman, Hulk, and Lab Rats, he'll be the worst JLA writer since, well, Joe Casey.
Of course, the only folks I'd really like to see write JLA right now would be John Ostrander or, um, no one who's likely to take the job. Maybe Christopher Priest, now that he's got an opening.

Bad JLA writers
Date: 2003-04-21 09:32 am (UTC)Getting John Ostrander on JLA would be quite a coup. Though in a way, I'd rather see your second idea -- Priest -- and have Ostrander revive Suicide Squad.
Re: Bad JLA writers
Date: 2003-04-21 09:42 am (UTC)I'd love a new Suicide Squad (I quite liked Giffen's take, even), but I figure Ostrander has put in a huge run on them already, but only touched on the JLA with Incarnations and his Martian Manhunter series. Incarnations proved that he gets the JLA, in all of its various forms.
Re: Bad JLA writers
Date: 2003-04-21 10:16 am (UTC)Giffen's Squad was good, but maybe too eccentric. I re-read each issue until I knew who was saying what, but I'm not sure most buyers had the patience to do it.
In my dream world, I would write the revival of that book. In this world, I have to hope that they'll get an Ostrander or a Grell or a Chaykin to do it.
