Okay, I love this CD. Aside from nice parodies (including a song co-written by Lauren Christy), there's the artist parodies (something he's done a few times in the past with Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, and NIN). THis time, we get three of 'em including ones of Buddy Holly, Bob Dylan (with every line a palindrome), and, in perhaps Al's finest moment, a nine-minute parody of Frank Zappa that is nothing short of amazing (it even has a guitar intro by Dweezil). The CD also has some nice multimedia bonuses, including remixes and home movies.

Moxy Früvous now has only my second favorite Spider-Man related song of all time.

OH, great... I come over here (via [livejournal.com profile] shadesong) to wish you a Happy Father's Day & find this...

Guess I know what I'll be getting my hubby..... Along with a nice set of headphones so I don't have to share the torture...... ;) Yeah, yeah, I do like a few of Al's bits. (Just don't tell Darrell I said that.)

And one of the lines is...

"Madam, I'm Adam"!

Bwa ha ha ha! Ahem.

It is indeed an excellent CD. I bought it Tuesday and listened to it at work all day Saturday. I'm ashamed to say that I'm not terribly familiar with Frank Zappa. Can you recommend a few tracks for me to listen to for comparison? Thanks!

The specific Zappa he's parodizing is the Joe's Garage era, so see if you can give those a listen. It's good stuff, and the Al parody is so right on as to boggle the mind. Here's UBL's review http://store.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,189994,00.html?src=search#review

Mark Mothersbaugh was pissed as heck at Al when he saw the video for "Dare to be Stupid." He said Al did Devo better than Devo did Devo.

I was at a party today, and another guest was the guy who voices Brak on Space Ghost. His name's Andy.

Andy recently was in LA and got to hang out with Weird Al.

After spending hours with him in public, during which time Mr. Yankovic resembled nothing so much as any-other-guy-you'd-hang-out-with-in-public, Andy finally asked him why he wasn't acting like Weird Al.

"That's just a character, man!" he was told.

I would've felt cheated.

Better than "Spidey the Fun Licker"? Hard to believe.
