Last day with Elayna

Today was a good day. We got Elayna's hair cut, then went to lunch at Edo, her favorite restaurant (Japanese Hibachi style). Service was okay, but the show was nice -- unlike the last chef, this chef didn't cheat and use a hard boiled egg when he threw the egg into his hat. He also got Elayna with the ketchup-bottle-with-red-string trick, which she'd never seen before.

When I tucked her in tonight, she cried about not seeing me for two months. :-( I'm going to miss her so damned much.

*HUGS* Hope you can survive ok. It's obvious how much you love that girl! I think you make a great dad! Two months will fly, but I know it would kill ME!! I've never been apart from mine except overnight when Ethan was born. Amazing how they strum at your heart strings.

Treat it like you sent her to sleepaway camp really, really early. ;) And it'll just zoom. I know at her age it'll be harder on both of you... but still trying the camp concept, might work.

*hugs* From listening to you talk about her, it's obvious that it's going to be hard, but can't you keep in touch by phone or writing letters like pen pals?

Not a bad idea. Hell, she'll be going to day camp when she's there, anyway. :-)

Oh, we plan on it (and email, of course! :-) It'll be nice, but it's not the same as having her cuddle up with me on the couch to watch TV, or getting surprise-tacklehugged by her. But I survived last summer, so I should survive this one, too.
