I just got very good inside information that Kathy, my co-worker and fellow business analyst, is likely to leave for a job in the B-school in the next few weeks. Crap. This is not the time of the year when that would be a good thing (not that it would ever be a good thing, but this is when Trish and I both have major projects, and rely on Kathy, whose projects are usually lightest this time of year, to handle more day-to-day stuff). Nothing's definite, but it's still worrisome (and no, I'm not saying she shouldn't leave based on the time of the year -- she's got two kids to support, and as long as she gives notice and wraps projects up, that's fine).

That... kinda strikes me as uncool of her. After you guys did her work during both of her really long, closely spaced maternity leaves, to just up and leave you as soon as she gets back... kinda taking advantage of ITD when she knew she was going to leave, y'know? You know her better than I do, of course.

she would get better reviews than she deserved, and get more slack cut for her. I really feel that's where she's taking advantage.

Grrr....

On the plus side, once she transfers, she's still going to be mostly out of vacation/sick leave, and the B-School isn't nearly as lax about working from home.

*nods* And with an infant and a toddler... ah well, I'm sure she realizes what she's getting into!

What does she do? What will you be looking for in a replacement?
