Another RIP

With all the celebrity deaths in the news recently (Hume, David Brinkley, Gregory Peck, that guy from Deep Rising and JAG), I only just found out that Tony Roma died.

Sigh.

This is a blow for the cause of mediocre ribs everywhere.

Gods, I've got to stop getting my news from LJ. When I get it in doses like this, I get all depressed.

*nod* I first heard about all of them through LJ as well, but they were spaced apart (a little bit, at least -- David and Gregory passed away on the same day).

Sadly, we also lost William Marshall (Blackula).

But does RIP now mean "Ribs In Peace"?

And just to lift your spirits higher, I just saw Ray Bradbury using a walker. Many are surprised he's still around. But he seemed happy.

I did know about Marshall, I just had a brain fart when posting.

I also knew that Bradbury was alive (hell, he's released two or three new books over the last couple of years). He and Ray Harryhausen had a great panel at Dragoncon a few years back.

Glad Ray is up to using a walker. Last time I saw him, two years ago, he was still using the wheel chair.

Course he was talking into his tape recorder full speed about story ideas and observations.

How could I not mention that William Marshall was also the "King of Cartoons" on Pee Wee's Playhouse?

And I just watched him yesterday in "Amazon Women on The Moon", playing the pirate captain in the "Video Pirates" segment.

I dunno, TR's is pretty good for a chain, rather like Steak and Ale or TGI Friday's in their genre...

So where does one go for Good Ribs? (Atlanta locations are OK, as I get out that way every once in a while....)

If you're ever in Charleston, go out on the Isle of Palms and hit Sticky Fingers. It's almost worth the drive just for the ribs :)
