Just came back from a sneak preview of Pirates of the Caribbean. It was good, silly fun. Better than Cutthroat Island, not quite Captain Blood. Good summer junk food, with great fx and solid fight choreography (although it's pretty low on the swashbuckling scale). Johnny Depp makes up for years of subtle acting by chewing about two tons of scenery, but Jack Sparrow is a part that calls for overacting. Alas, the best line is given away in the previews (a shame, too, as it's better in context), but there's really very little to complain about with this one. Great cast, fun script.

Oh, and do sit through the credits. :-)

Um, probably not. :-( 'song's thinking of going because she was invited to a party (and one that probably isn't up my alley), and money's kinda tight. I honestly didn't realize you were in Dallas. For some reason, I kept thinking Austin.

elorie, myself, bookofmirrors and blckwngdorcl went and saw it last night. Wonderful, wonderful fun. We got dressed up for the occasion too. We were the only ones there that did, so we stood out like an undead monkey. But everyone loved it.
