Monday morning
Aug. 11th, 2003 09:34 amIn which I report on Sunday:
Went to the Farmer's Market with
mermaidblue, where I picked up some yummy yellow plums. Along with the pluots I bought earlier in the week (ostensibly for Elayna, who has now decided that she doesn't like plums or any variants thereof), I'm now in plum heaven.
After coming back home, there was much puttering about and playing with Elayna (who was, alas, In A Mood for much of the evening), after which I headed to
jet_li_wannabe's for gaming, wherein we took a break from Blood Bowl and decided to play some Magic: The Gathering. Yes, I had an atavistic gaming experience. It was quite fun.
I also got to meet the new kitty that Jet_li_wannabe and the LJ-less Tracy adopted. Named Elsie for her cow pattern, she's absolutely adorable! She's only two months old, and she has the cutest little meow, barely audible. She affectionate and curious, both great signs in a kitty. And she didn't freak excessively at smelling the two cats on me.
Upon arriving home, I watched Sex and the City, which was damned fun (aside -- Tivo cut it off before the preview for next week began -- anyone have a summary?). And I then watched the series finale of Futurama. Sigh. There are few shows that I'll miss more, and fewer that were killed when they were so in their prime.
Today is Elayna's first day of school. Too many kids in her class (remind me to eventually rant about our assfuck superintendent, who, alas, decided not to take another job this week), but she still has an awesome teacher, and is very much looking forward to the new year.
Tonight,
jet_li_wannabe and I will be catching an advance screening of Freddy Vs. Jason. I am very psyched.
And then there's work. I do need to do a rant about work eventually. When I find free time from work (other than LJ posting), I'll make that rant. :-)

Date: 2003-08-11 07:39 am (UTC)So what happened in the Sex and the City? I won't get to see it again since I'm on the road. Was there a marriage?
Lasly, sorry about the supe being such a jerk! I'm glad Elayna has a good teacher though!

Date: 2003-08-11 08:08 am (UTC)I also liked the way the series ended. Left lots of wiggle room for possible future expanding, either via new episodes on Cartoon Network (extremely doubtful) or through a movie or two (doubtful, but more probable than the other). The biggest obstacle, other than Fox of course, is sheer cost - Futurama was possibly the most expensive animated TV show in history. (Which brings up more how stupid Fox was for not giving it a good chance to succeed and recoup their investment.)
I really have to wonder if there were more than 2 or 3 "bad" episodes of Futurama. I certainly can't remember more than that.
