So, in a moment of weakness the other day, I emailed Nestle about releasing the greatest candy bar ever made in the US. They emailed me back with the following:

August 20, 2003

Dear Mr. Lipkin,

Thank you for contacting us about Nestlé Coffee Crisp.

Coffee Crisp, a product of Nestlé Canada, is available through a special
broker, Del Mar International, to
consumers in the United States. Although it is not currently available in
retail stores, you may place an
order by the case directly from the broker by calling toll-free
1-800-278-6253.

We appreciate your interest in our products.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Meininger
Consumer Response Representative

So yay! The best candy bar is available in the States! Woohoo! I'll have to place an order sometime soon.

Now to get working on the Aero. If I ever get another free minute here.

I can get Aero at the nearby Publix in the "ethnic" section.

I wish Nestle would make their own version of England's Wispa bar, or just start importing those outright. Mmmmmmmm.

British specialty shops?

Isn't there a British food shop in Norcross or thereabouts? Or did it close? My dad used to buy tea there. They'd carry stuff like the Aero.

Or...

You can talk nicely to your friendly Canadian lj'ers. We can get Coffee Crisp up here. Heck, it's even available in a Mocha and Vanilla Latte flavour in some areas. Ditto the Aero, available in Milk and Dark chocolate options, as well as mint and, occasionally, orange. I think I can get them 2/$1 at the local dollar store, depending on availability.
I had no idea they weren't available in the US. Must pay better attention next time I'm down.

What she said. Damn, I've been taking Coffee Crisp for granted all this time. :)

Had a friend smuggle a few in a couple days ago. When I get mine, I'll put one aside for you...

*thinks back fondly to all the wonderful junk food he used to eat, growing up in Canada*

A lot of it isn't available here, true. *sigh*

Damn, now I'm hungry...

Hit an English or Irish import store for the Aero if you can't find 'em anywhere else.

I routinely have Aeros, Coffee Crisps, and other assorted good things sent to me by my gaggle of friends in Toronto. Bat your eyes at any Canadians reading your LJ, or let me know and I'll bat my eyes at mine, and get you the hookup. :)

I have no idea who you are, but my mother's maiden name is Lipkin, so there's a slim chance we might be distant relatives.

Mint Aero are a little scary. Maybe because the color and consistency make it look exactly, exactly like the packing material in my company mail room. But they're considerably tastier.

I think Harry's also carries them. Aeros were my favourite part of visiting Canada as a kid.

Yum

Me and my Aero....
So far I've had to bribe my family to bring them back (especially the mint ones) when they visit once a year. To be able to get them by the CASE...is almost too much to bear.

I was watching something on the food network a couple weeks ago, and they were talking about Aeros not selling well and being phased out years ago . . . and I was just astounded. As I said to my staff the next day, "What the fuck?"

I guess we just take things like that for granted, and don't even notice that the American candy situation is just different. I do know that a Mars Bar(tm) is not a Mars Bar(tm).
