Randomness
Aug. 22nd, 2003 03:49 pmI totally forgot that I submitted a story to the Apple section at Slashdot last night before heading to bed. Turns out it was accepted. That makes me a whopping 2/7 in /. submissions.
Today, we got free pizza. Lots of it. From Savage pizza. I had about 76 slices. I'm way too full to get any work done.
This weekend, I get to work for Freshman Arrival Weekend again. I'll be working all day Saturday and Sunday. Last year, I still managed a few LJ posts. No idea if I'll be so lucky this year.
iChat refused to tell people that I was away today. Feh.
When
shadesong is out tonight, I intend to continue watching IFC's documentary A Decade Under the Influence. Aside from being the last thing directed by the late Ted Demme (a damned under-appreciated director), it's also a great look at a decade in which directors were actually allowed to exercise their vision when they made movies (aside: yes, I know that Michael Bay gets to exercise his vision; I'm talking about directors with good vision here). A good documentary about one of the best periods of American film.
We got our comics from Westfield yesterday. Between Fiona Avery writing Amazing, and Humberto Ramos drawing Spectacular, poor Peter Parker is getting the life sucked out of him. But there were some good things, too. Like everything Bendis had. I can't rave enough about the current Powers storyline. He's take an already amazing world and shifted it completely without hurting the earlier stories at all. Just amazing. And the conclusion to Batman: Nevermore (Batman/Edgar Allen Poe) was very nicely done (if predictable). The miniseries is one of my favorites of the year.
Currently reading Ascending, by James Alan Gardner. I know some folks didn't enjoy this one, but it's one of my favorites of his so far.
That's it for my random phaser; I'm all out of random juice.
