Yeah, something worse than Dubya's attempted extortion of $87 million happened yesterday.

Warren Zevon, one of the truly great minds in music, died. Okay, it wasn't unexpected. But it still hurts like hell. At least he lived long enough to see that James Bond movie he wanted to catch.

Username changed in honor of the man.

This is a strange coincidence, for the last few months my company has had me developing something that makes stringent use of alphabetical order. So all my test nodes and criteria have been labelled "Zevon" because it always came out last and was easy to identify and adjust. So Warren Zevon's name will soon live on in our health insurance system nationwide!

As I said on someone else's LJ, I remember singing along to "Werewolves of Greater Philly" (That was after "Werewolves of Bryn Mawr" just didn't fit. He was playing in Bryn Mawr.)

That show was a long, long time ago, back when that album was fairly new. *sigh*

Quit smoking, people. *sigh* Yeah, I know he could have been hit by a truck, but lung cancer is such a nasty way to die...

Hopefully vh1 will rebroadcast the special they aired about his last few months and the making of his last album, "the wind." It was great and very touching..
