About half an hour ago, I was struck with the irresistible urge to load nothing but Dar Williams songs into iTunes. My work productivity may have slipped a little but my happiness has grown.
September 23rd Dar finally returns to London... can't wait! :) I haven't seen her perform in over a year -- am going through withdrawal. (There was one year I saw her live six times. That was a good year. :)
Okay, don't laugh at me...is iTunes like Kazaa or more like winamp? I'm needing something that I can download mp3s to, yet also download certain songs from my cds.
Mmm, "Spring Street." That song's been an unofficial anthem for me for about a year and a half now--lots of new beginnings keep happening in my life (new apartment, new job (twice), new car, attempts at a new outlook on things).
I had to play "The End of the Summer" last week because....it *is* the end of the summer. Won't be long till I'm playing "The Christians and the Pagans" and "February" again.
My album of choice this week (on the car CD player) has been "When October Goes," a really good collection of autumn-related songs by folksingers, put together by Christine Lavin. It has Cheryl Wheeler ("When Fall Comes to New England", of course), Richard Shindell ("Are You Happy Now?" naturally), John Gorka, Julie Gold, and a bunch of others. Most of the songs are really good. There's a similar winter album, but I haven't purchased it yet.
I *so* need a computer so I can put together mix CDs (or acquire an iPod or equivalent device and load it up with tunes).
There's a Dar Williams song I'm looking for. Don't know the name, though I think it might have the word "city" in the title. There's a tremendous throbbing reed bass line, sounds like bass accordian or bass harmonica, just sounds like a lot of air passing through a really long reed. Any idea what I'm talking about?
