So, [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe and I went to the screening of Underworld, where an LJ gathering had broken out. We saw [livejournal.com profile] karlita, [livejournal.com profile] photognome, [livejournal.com profile] irana, possibly [livejournal.com profile] justanotherg33k (or someone who looked like him), and probably others, since I suck at recognizing folks.

As for the movie, it was exactly what I expected. Fun, action-packed, and a decent plotline. I won't do spoilers, but I loved the use of vamp/werewolf mythology, and I loved the action sequences -- this was the anti-LXG, containing multiple fights in dark places that were easy to follow, because the director realized that if the fights didn't work, the movie would fall apart. Great gun-fu.

And watching Kate Beckinsale walking around in leather for two hours is about as close to Nirvana as I'll ever get. If someone releases a DVD of Kate dressed as she was in this movie doing nothing but watching paint dry, I will buy it.

The WW lawsuit, btw, is pretty much horseshit, at least on the stuff not from Nancy's short story (which I haven't read). The only thing they have going is the use of the term "abomination" for a hybrid. Otherwise, nothing that was done here wasn't thought up long before WW.

I'll post a spoiler-laden review tomorrow, when I'm less tired.

But quite on topic for my own. :)

I never said that the answer to "what am I?" was limited to a single word, or even a small set of them. *sticks tongue out* I set the poll to accept the maximum number of characters just in case anyone felt like getting long-winded or exceedingly vitriolic. *winning smile*

What I've been wondering is, do they consistently call the hybrid an Abomination, or is there one scene where someone says "How could you create such an abomination?" Are they actually using the term as a proper noun, or does the word just come up in its normal, common usage?

I caught Kate last week on a "Daily Show with Jon Stewart". She had her hair all teased around her face and a loosely-buttoned collared cotton shirt. I believe it was olive green.

Uh Mu Gu. That one stayed on the Tivo for a few days.

I knew that lawsuit was only for their own publicity. But didn't you know, they invented vampires! Yeah, uh, anyway, you so should have seen the show on AMC last night--if it's on again, you must watch it. I can't remember when I laughed so much at a "documentary." Fang vs. Fiction, yeah that was the title. It was bad enough that every so often I had to yell out that they were wrong (although *everyone* gets that whole Stoker based Dracula on Vlad thing wrong--he really didn't--all you need to do is read his diaries/notes to find that out), but they had a real live werewolf on the show. I'm not kidding. And he told us about the big war that's been going on between werewolves and vampires since the fifteenth century (my dad claimed since ancient Rome from what he's read and that does make more sense to me--and no, my dad is NOT a werewolf). And of course, how he's descended from Vlad. Doesn't matter that Vlad's family died out in the 1700s....

I taped it. I'm going to wait till people get drunk at AndreaCon and then make them watch it. While talking like a pirate.

"It's the best cop-out answer I've seen in quite some time," she said in her most solicitous tone.

Ah, you should have caught Kate on the Late Late Show with Kilborn.

Peach silk top, v-neck ruffles and she was happy to see Craig.

The camera guy way happy to see her as he consistently returned to enjoy the fine blouse.

I so want to see that movie. So it's worth seeing, I take it, even aside the dazzling leather clad-Kate?
