First sentence from a letter sent out to all staff members at Emory:

Emory Campus Dining Services wants to here from you!

Oh, they'll hear from me.

That's not a misspelling...

it's the new grammar...you speel the way you feel it should be speeled...that way you dont hurt the self esteem of those who speel differently from the norm...

Besides if the spellchecker allows it...it must be correct...isnt it?

My favorite - and I've gotten it more than once in my journal after posting a particularly rousing tirade:

"Here, here!"

*confused look* Where else would I be?

I've done worse

When I was editor of the school paper I once let get past me a headline that started "New Campus Web sever" (with that capitalization) about a webmail server we installed. To add insult to injury, I was also working for the IT department that installed the server.

All week long I had people asking me what a bloody "Web sever" was. The really sad part was that bunch of them thought it wasn't a typo and just wanted to know what it was.

I went to the Titanic: Artifact display, which has been touring the nation, this weekend. One of their display cards with a biography read, "Instead of sailing the last week in April, as he world have liked..."

WORLD have liked? And this was a display in a museum, gah. I left a comment card, but do they ever read those? They obviously don't read their own displays.

One of my colleagues once sent out a design document, to a customer, after it had been reviewed and checked, twice, about a
Public Address System

They left one (that's ONE) letter out of the above. The spell-checker didn't complain because it was still a word. In 24 point bold Arial.

Can you guess what letter it was?

My work is very into memos and notices. In one we are reminded that we can't wear our uniforms out in public, just at work and when traveling to our residents.

Cox Hall is terrible this year. You should eat at the DUC with us, if only because I would be amused to see someone over 24 there.

Okie, let me know if you ever actually want to eat there. We meet at the Coke Commons every MWF at 11:40 for a DUCtastic lunch. It's much better this year. I might even pay for you on my EmoryCard :).
