Gilmore Girls: Best episode of the season, and also the first that really seemed to click. Note that this was also the first episode in which Lane appeared (although no mention was made of her boyfriend -- not even a joke about him moving out to Orange County). Still no Michel (even though he's in the credits), although that's not necessarily a bad thing. They managed to nicely balance events at Yale and in Star's Hollow.

Smallville: Wow. It's hard to believe how much this show sucks now. Really. I though Jeph Loeb was brought in to beef up the plotting of the show. Plot does not mean loads of unintelligible crap. That said, this was better than week one (Castaway meets Fight Club). Lex, at least, was an interesting character, and we can understand a little bit more about his motivations. That said, the character shift in his ex-wife is still ludicrous.

Angel: Two for two. Damn, I'm enjoying the show this year. I've commented elsewhere about this ep already. Suffice to say, it was fun.

Karen Sisco: Two episodes in, this is my favorite crime drama in years. I adore Carla Gugino, and she's perfect as Karen. Likewise, Robert Forster (long one of my favorite character actors), is actually better than Dennis Farina was in the movie (Out of Sight, for anyone who doesn't realize that this is a spin-off). Even with the suckage of Smallville, this and Angel have Wednesday my new Holy Day of television.

Teen Titans: Wow. The show started out as just a cute anime-esque show, but it's gotten interesting. The Robin/Slade thing was surprisingly intense. Yeah, it's going in a totally different direction than the comic, but that's fine. It's fun. And Elayna has gotten really into it -- she was griping all week about the "to be continued" (Baby's First Cliffhanger), and really enjoyed the conclusion. Technically, there's one episode left this season, but it's a stand-alone one that's being shown out of order. So the season is done. I want season two, dammit. Hope it gets the go-ahead.

The Handler: I missed the first episode, but the next two have me with mixed feelings. I want to love the show. I mean, Joey Pants is on it. And that one agent (the one who ran the bookstore) is really cute. But the plots have been mixed. And some of the characters (like Tanya Wright's) seem to be almost extraneous (but shouldn't be). I'll give it another two episodes.

Kill Bill, Part 1: Wow. Motherfucking wow. It's like Peter Jackson (the old-school one, from the Dead Alive days) meets Jet Li. On acid. And crack. There was more blood in this movie than I've seen in any ten other movies. There was also more of a sense of fun in this movie than I've seen in ages. Uma is just amazing. And the series of fights at the end is just unbelievable. I want to see part 2 now! Oh, and in case anyone is worried, the Ebert review isn't as spoiler-laden as we thought. We actually know the fate of both characters he says will die within the first fifteen minutes (since the movie is mostly flashback).
