Folks, if your Sunday paper had an Eckerd's circular, grab it and take it Best Buy/BlockBuster/whatever for the price match on the new Indiana Jones box set.. Eckard's is selling the set for $35.99, and although the ad shows the fullscreen version (why does such a thing even exist?), two co-workers got Best Buy to match on the real version.

We don't have Eckard's up here. And my copy from Amazon just shipped, anyway. ;)

'full screen'... ick.

the only time I'll entertain the possibility of buying a fullscreen edition
is if the film was shot in a format with a similiar aspect ratio.
Even then, I'd prefer it as an OPTION to the theatrical release format.

I don't know, but the general public does seem to be learning, finally. I picked up my set at Best Buy yesterday, where they had an immense display with both versions. The "fullscreen" edition -- well, it looked like only three or four copies had been bought, and it looked like there was a lot less space devoted to that version, too. The widescreen edition part of the display, on the other hand, was down to about a quarter of its original space.

So...there is hope. We may yet be able to get rid of the horrible full frame phenomenon. :)

cheers,
Phil

Some people actually prefer full screen over widescreen.

I don't get it, either.

I wish they'd just put both versions on the same discs. Or do like some movies I've rented and have the full screen on one side and the widescreen on the other. Can have twice the special features then, too.

Full-screen versions exist for people like my grandmother (may she rest in peace) and my aunt, who are convinced that the black lines at the top and bottom of the screen are cutting off information. I've tried to explain it to them too many times to count, but they just won't get it.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. Now I'll have to track down somebody who reads the Sunday paper.
