Thanks to a nice pair of gift certificates, I placed a decent order with Amazon the other night. A couple of the items were gifts, so I won't mention them here. But I also treated myself to some stuff. I ordered:

Animal Man, Book 2, collecting the second third of Grant Morrison's amazing run on the title (this was back when he was still a visionary).

Y the Last Man: Cycles, the second book in a very nifty series that I got into too late to pick up individual issues for (which is okay, since I prefer trades). That's assuming that Brian Vaughn doesn't have any moments as stupid as the "we don't know who wrote the note" one in the otherwise wonderful Runaways.

The Work of Director Spike Jonze, a DVD collecting the music videos (and lots of extras) of one of the true masters of the form.

The Captain, by Kasey Chambers, an album whose title track is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

and

Words You Don't Want to Hear During Your Annual Review, because I work in a Dilbert world, and I'm way behind on the collections.

So yeah, I'm definitely psyched for this package to arrive.

I forgot that he directed Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" video. That is one of my favorites! LOL

Very few things are cooler than Christopher Walken dancing to that music.

Morrison is still quite visionary, thank you very much.

I haven't read Runaways, but if the "who wrote the note" thing you allude to is a plotting copout, then yes, there has been one such in Y: The Last Man. I don't want to spoil you (and neither do you, I'm sure), but you'll know it when you see it.

I finally, prodded by [livejournal.com profile] synapticdreams, got my Amazon wishlist going. *grins*

Yes looking for packages in the mail is FUN!!! Mine (bearing a certain dress) should be here today or tomorrow. *shy smile*

I know I've raved about this excessively in my own journal, but the Michel Gondry collection is even better (the Spike Jonze one is awesome, but they made some glaring omissions). The Chris Cunningham collection is surprisingly skimpy, although what is there is certainly worth the money. But Gondry rules all known worlds.
