I don't listen to many audblogs, mainly because I read LJ to, well, read.

That said, I won't be listening to ANY posts made using the new LJ Phone feature, as ogg doesn't work natively in my browser (Safari on OSX), and I'm not about to download a separate and otherwise pointless app just to listen to those files. If you want me to hear you, use MP3, or don't bother.

I stopped playing the audblogs because I would have this preset notion in my head about a person. Then I would hear their voice and it just killed it for me. Some of them sounded really stupid and I didn't want anymore heartbreak.
Additionally it completely cured my curiosity about using it myself.

Winamp plays them, but I can see where you're coming from.

iTunes and Quicktime work for OSX, you just have to download a filter and install it, then when you click on an audpost it'll download the .ogg and you have to click on it to play it. .mp3's didn't work automatically when they first came out, either. ;)

Considering you already probably have Quicktime, and almost definitely have itunes, it is only a 173kb dl, for a plugin for it.

Though it would be nice for it to open on a browser instead, someone on the OSX community commented on he would work with it and see what he could figure out.

I agree. Furthermore, I don't have DSL, and I don't feel like spending time and bandwith to get to a post I could read in a split second.

I know very little about Safari, but I believe it already uses one free software component (KHTML), So there's probably a good chance some Mac hacker is interested in plugging in Ogg support (it's free) as well. Maybe you could make a suggestion in whatever the appropriate forum is.

If I used OSX, I'd be all over this, because I'd like to see free standards adopted everywhere, but I don't...
