So, the ickiness that hit me two days ago morphed into some sort of nasty cold yesterday. I damned near fainted on my first trip to Kroger (ironically while reaching for the Dayquil). Medicine got me through the day (although standing for about seven hours straight certainly wasn't making things easier). We cooked about a zillion desserts and a few side dishes, and everyone (and my brain's not working well enough to list "everyone," but I don't doubt that [livejournal.com profile] shadesong will when she wakes up) seemed to enjoy the food. By early evening, though, I could barely breathe, and had to dose myself with Nyquil. For some reason, Nyquil doesn't put me in a coma like it does to others. Rather, I tend to have a very restless sleep, waking up every half hour or so, with my mind racing a lot faster than my body is capable of keeping up with. So yeah, a long night.

I was woken up this morning because the neighbors decided to mow their fucking lawn at 8:45, something they should be shot for.

Currently, my major issue seems to be my ears being incredible stuffed and full of pressure. Hope I can make it through a normal day. I really hate being sick on holidays and days off from work. It's just not right.

Off to medicate, and maybe eat.

I've got what you've got. The creeping crud. Yay. Great for doing the holiday shopping. ~sigh~

Hugs and sympathies. Being sick over holidays sucks so much! One year we had a bunch of people over for Thanksgiving, and J took one look at the feast spread out, turned pale, and rushed to the bathroom to vomit. This did not inspire faith in my cooking, although no one else had a similar reaction! (He'd picked up the flu at work.)

Anyway, I digress. I usually got knocked out by Nyquil, but then took it once and reacted like you. I hated that so much I won't take it anymore; I take dayquil at night if I need something.

Hope you feel better soon!

I've had the same experience with NyQuil. And DayQuil (if I have any during the day, I can't sleep at night).

Then I decided NyQuil was the most expensive way to treat a cold anyway, since usually I have maybe 2 of the 4 symptoms treated at any given time...it comes out much more economically to buy generics of the 4 active ingredients and just take the ones I need. And I don't wind up tossing and turning all night.

You know they had to mow their lawn early so they'd have more time to get the holiday decorations up.

Vegas has already started creeping in around here.

Nyquil does something similar to me, I go right to sleep but wake up at 3 am wide awake every time.

Hope you feel better soon, and really sorry about the creamer ~ that sucks!

I'm sorry that you've been struck down by miscellaneous plague. I've had several friends for whom NyQuil and such didn't quite work properly. One such had a weird reaction with the stuff that's supposed to help you sleep, and it was like speed to her; kept her up and restless all damn night.

At any rate, I'll stop with the anecdotes and wish you a speedy and simple recovery. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm sorry you are sick, hon. Kelsey's got it too, and I think the itchiness at the back of my throat is trying to tell me I'm next...

That really sucks! And when you have a cold you are less likely to taste things properly....which sucks even more considering yesterday was a Food Based Day. =P

Shoot your neighbors. Twice. =P Mowing at 8:45 is a sin. Why couldn't they just go shopping instead?

*hugs* Feel better!

Oh, hell, good luck. I hate being sick.

Cold drugs that are meant to knock you out always keep me awake, too.

I'm glad you guys had such a great Thanksgiving and Elayna's feeling better.

Nyquil does that to me too. Heart palpitations are horrendous when one is trying to sleep. If I do actually sleep, I tend to have surrealistic dreams (imagine that!) which are swathed in blazing color and always end up being nightmares. Yuck. So I don't take Nyquil at all. Or anything with dyphenhydramine. Pseudophedrine works okay on me, although it tends to make me antsy a bit too. Nothing like Benadryl.
