The Mets got Looper! Yay! Anyone (including Jesse Orosco) would be an upgrade over Benitez, but I'm pretty happy with Looper's potential.

And tomorrow, the Hall of Fame announcements! If there's any justice, we'll see the largest group of players ever inducted this year. Seriously, I see eight or nine deserving people on the ballot. Although I know that folks like Sandberg and Gossage are going to get screwed.

In football, the two playoff games yesterday featured two of the most memorable plays I've seen. The Untouched Touchdown essentially killed the Broncos -- you just can't recover when your entire defense shows a collective IQ of about six. I could see Coyer losing his job over this one. Frankly, if he didn't train his guys to make sure a guy was down, he deserves it.

And that Seahawks/Packers game was amazing. Heartbreaking for Hasselbeck, but still amazing. One fucking turnover.

Wasn't that Colts-Broncos game fun? I got to see most of that and I don't think any other NFL game this season was one-tenth as amusing.

Hall of Fame: How long do retiring players have to wait until they're eligible? 5 years or something?

Football: Thankfully, the Cowboys (who shouldn't have even been there anyway), got their ass whupped Saturday. So the Titans and the Panthers clash. That might be an interesting game.

I'd love to see my ol' buddy Randy Myers get in, but so far it looks like Dennis Eckersly will prolly take it.

True, true. The one I'm really waiting for is "The Rocket" ... then both of my favorite pitchers will be in.

I wonder who's got the stroke to talk him back out of retirement.

I take zero interest in football, but I'm glad to hear about any setbacks for Hasselbeck, if they make it in any way more likely that Elisabeth will leave him.
