The "Reverend" Fred Phelps, best known for secretly giving rimjobs to Dick Cheney protesting everywhere (including Emory a few years back, with all six of his followers in tow) with anti-gay signs, is up to his old tricks.

grrr. he came to my church a few years ago. (my pastor performed same sex unions, and the church is in boys town) as angry as it made me for him to be there, he of course has the right to do what he wants, and i was so proud of the neighborhood response. people formed a ring around the church, and about 1000 people gathered on the corner where the church was, carrying signs telling phelps to go home (i think the exact words were "Dorothy, go back to kansas". heh.), and singing, and yelling, and surrounding phelp's pitiful 6 people with infectious energy. it rocked.

So much is made about Phelps it is easy to forget his little cult doesn't add up to a baker's dozen.

I don't understand the logic this man puts forth. Protesting a funeral is something that really jaggedly makes fun of christianity more than a church official commiting a sin ever could. It's like a recursively coded slap to the christian faith. Yet he has conservative clout.

I wasn't aware of that... I'd have assumed that the conservatives were deeply embarassed by him.

Anyone up for rev-phelps-is-secretly-gay.net ?

Well he's a media figure sadly. Although the bgla has not exactly handled him properly.

Why is that inconsistency and not pragmatism? :)

People like this guy are what give real Christians a bad name. Any real Christian would not say that God hates anybody. This man will get his in the end. God will judge him and won't he be surprised when he enters hell.

You've figured it out! There is no logic involved. ;)

The Far Right opposes big government when it comes to social welfare. They're ok with government controlling morality and such.

Not everyone on the right supports Bush's budget, either.
