Amusement in times of sickness

We're up early because Elayna started throwing up at 6:30. After getting her a bath, she went to lie down on the couch and watch Tivo.

She then calls me over:

"Adam, I see that there's a That's So Raven for me, but what's Stripperella? Is it like Cinderella?"

Yeah, she won't be watching that one.

Back in the '70s when this version of Cinderella (http://imdb.com/title/tt0075849/) was doing the drive-in circuit, it came to our local drive-in, which then was doing the Skinemax thing, an aunt of mine saw that Cinderella was playing at the drive-in and she planned and alomst took her then Elayna age daughters to it....luckily for her, she found out about the movie just before they went or they really would have been in for a surprise....

I watched Stripperella once, and didn't see anything Elayna couldn't handle.

It made me wonder--why create a series with such serious sleaze potential, put it on late at night, and then have it contain no actual sleaze? What was SPIKE thinking?

They've had some episodes that definitely had stuff that was inappropriate (the big battle at the Museum of Giant things, in which Stripperella got distracted by the world's largest vibrating banana, comes to mind). Plus, the general strip club concept (which they go into detail on in many episodes) is something I don't need to address with her yet.

Gary the Rat's opening sequence, when the show first started, had Gary peering into a mirror after the change and uttering "Gary the Rat. Shit." After it came back from hiatus, they changed it to "Gary the Rat. Darn."
