Gee. What a surprise. I'm just shocked that the Republican Party (oh, excuse me, surely this was done by a well-meaning sympathizer who's not speaking or acting on the Party's behalf) would possible stoop to faking evidence. I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

He posted the mockup, then posted the correction on the same page, then on the subsequent days...

I first saw that picture on a Dean supporter's site, so I'd not be surprised if it was done by a Democrat, honestly. When political election season starts, it isn't so obvious where party lines are.

Of course he did. After all, since he broke the initial mockup, by posting the correction, he covered his ass nicely, even though only a tenth of the folks who were made aware of the first item were likely to have heard of the correction (and that's a standard sleaze tactic regardless of political origin -- check out the corrections/retractions to almost any story to appear in any form of media, and the relative obscurity and small print size of those corrections).

I call bullshit on that.

Retraction was on air, directly under the offending picture, and he had it in two days running of notes showing how he was fooled by the photoshopped picture, too. Not many would take the time to admit being tricked.

Nice try to paint with a wide brush, though. Did you even look at the link?

Yes, I read the link. It's not that Boortz was the propagandist (I don't like or respect the man, but he tends to be like the old D&D Lawful Evil folks, with a set of "rules" that he sticks to). It's the zillions of folks who take his initial rant (and as I said, this is something that applies to everyone, from Boortz to Alterman), forward it to everyone, talk about it at the water cooler, post it on LJ, etc, but then don't do the same for the follow-ups. And everyone from Boortz to Alterman knows that this happens.

The picture I saw on television this morning was neither of those two. It was a picture of a bunch of people sitting around at a rally. Jane was in the foreground and he was about 8, 9 rows of people back, but at an angle so you could see him.

All that was said this morning was "So he was at a rally that Fonda attended as well. So what?" He has Never denied being an anti-war activist after he served his two tours in Veitnam... and it was because of his tours that he became an activist.

If ANYONE has a right to be anit-activist about that war, would be someone who was in their shoes and actually fought over there.
