Luxemburgli!

The Italian candy has been topped! My boss just got back from Europe, and brought Luxemburgerli with him. These candies are impossible to describe. The closest approximation I can think of is that they look like tiny little cream puffs, or maybe candy hamburgers. But they taste amazing. They're made only in one cafe in Vienna, and they last about a day before going stale. Two meringue-esque puffs enclose a cream filling, and the flavors included mocha and raspberry (the only ones I got before they vanished). Each one, the size of maybe a gumball, must contain about ten cups of sugar, and probably a vial of crack.

Wow. Yeah, these were good. Must visit Vienna now and get more of these.

*L* Rock on. You know what else is good? Those german chocolates that are milk chocolate on the outside, and creamy white inside. Kind of like the eggs they make with the toys inside, but in a bar form. It's like, upscale hershey's hugs.

Ooh -- I like those, too. Although I prefer the eggs -- a friend got me a whole bunch of them for a birthday a few years ago. I still have the toys somewhere.

That sounds just to die for.
One problem about taking my German class last quarter was that the teacher was obsessed with chocolate. I quickly learned to bribe her as did others. Soon she had chocolate to share at every class.

If you go to Vienna, make sure you also try sissikugeln (http://www.austria-export.at/lindt/english/kat06.asp?KNR=97), named after Queen Sissi (Elizabeth) of Hungary, who was a pretty impressive woman. I have a friend here who is so addicted to them that she persuades a cousin who lives overseas to send them to her periodically, and when I went to Vienna a couple of years ago badgered me to get some for her as well. I ate one and it was nice, but don't personally see the appeal. Then again, I'm like that with most non-dark chocolate.
