It's been a good food weekend for me. As detailed before, I had sushi on Friday night. Last night, we took Elayna to the Girl Scount "Thinking Day," (because thinking, of course, should be reserved for special occasions). Basically, it's an international festival where each troop represents a country, and has representative food from their country to eat. I had cheesecake and espresso at Luxemburg, taco salad at Mexico, cheesebread at Switzerland, and actual representative foods at some other countries (including stuffed grape leaves at Lebanon, lots of good potato dishes at India, pan au chocolate at France, etc. Suffice to say, I was full (and you can read about how embarrassing a job Elayna's troop leader did over at [livejournal.com profile] shadesong's entry over here).

Today, I walked up the street to the Southeast Kosher Festival. I once again found a browser's delight. Aside from the mainstream makers of kosher food (Nabisco had samples of Nutter Butters and Oreos), this place had everything from Arden's Garden juices to caterers serving fresh pan-seared tuna to kosher sausages to cheesecakes to fried mozzarella to Krispy Kremes. Yum.

And, perhaps more importantly, the good folks at Nabisco/Kraft were giving out Free Maxwell House Haggadahs! Because when you think of the suffering of the Jews in Egypt, what else comes to mind but bitter, mediocre coffee? Of course I grabbed one!

Nabisco is Kosher now? They weren't when I was growing up. It was all Sunshine and Hydrox, no Oreos for us.

Heh.

I completely read your entry title as Kosher Savage.

Puts a whole different spin on it.
