This afternoon, I have my first physical in longer than I care to say. Yeah, it's stupid to wait this long. But it'd be stupid to keep waiting, too.

In June, I'll be attending a conference at Princeton. I may have the opportunity to hop a train to NYC and/or Philly at some point during that conference, so I should probably contemplate a filter for that trip. Which means creating a poll:

[Poll #291190]

Fresh off canceling Angel, the WB has picked up a tv show by Brad Meltzer called "Jack and Bobby," about two kids, one of whom will grow up to be President (it's set present-day, with flash-forwards to the presidency, so it's not about that Jack and Bobby). Go Brad! The obvious question, of course, is, how many comic references can he slip into the show?

Working from home today, but work is still busymaking, so I'll be signing off now.

Actually, my workaround for that problem is to save a draft of the post in raw html using my LJ client (I use logjam). If I find an error, I just pull that draft up, make the corrections, and update the original entry.

Do you have this yet?

The Bad Guys Won : A season of brawling, boozing, bimbo-chasing, and championship baseball with Straw, Doc, Mookie, Nails, The Kid, and the rest of the 1986 Mets, the rowdiest team to ever put on a New York uniform - And Maybe the Best (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060507322/qid=1084196165/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1__i1_xgl14/002-0927351-1348051?v=glance&s=books)

Jack & Bobby is also exec produced by Greg Berlanti (of Everwood) and Thomas Schlamme (of The West Wing, et al). Schlamme's wife Christine Lahti plays Jack & Bobby's Mom.

Next year there is one show left on the WB I'll more than likely be watching. Smallville is the show in question, and it's pushing my limits.
I had a friend watching it with me. He expressed concern, 5 minutes before the show that he hadn't seen it since November 2003 and wanted to know what he missed.
(I'm sorry for the spoilers I may but here)

I said, here's what you need to know:
Clark likes Lana who likes Clark, but neither acts on that.
Anyone that falls in love with either Clark or Lana is evil.
Anyone that exhibits superpowers other then Clark is evil.
Except Clark's friends who will have temporary insanity.
In case you forgot, Luke Duke will remind Clark "Lex is evil".
Chloe will make at least one sarcastic comment.
Anyone who figures out Clark has powers is a dead man walking,
or gets amnesia.
Kryptonite= "Deus ex machina". It can but is not limited to: helping your brain activity, powering your car to supersonic speeds, giving you powers, making for great jewelry, making phone calls travel into the past to advance plot, and of course hurting Clark Kent.
Sure enough every one of those things came to be.

Now I know the WB would rather have "Cresent Fresh" shows like "Fresh sitcom" or "Hip reality show" or "Jammin variety show" or "OMG teen angst filled drama STR8 edge like it's 1991 baby!"

Shows like Angel are doing better then they ever have with better writing, promos that pull me in unlike the other programs on that network. So of course they pull it off the air. It's better to lead the viewers to believe that mediocity is excellence.

I would not be suprised if there is a love interest that comes in part way though the show named Marilyn, "who threatens to split the brothers in a way never thought possible." (clip of Bobby yelling) (clip of Jack yelling). All on a "nothing says lovin like somethin fresh from the oven" episode on the WB.
